After almost 36 years with the NETZSCH Group, Dr. Giacomo Canepa began his well-deserved retirement on July 1, 2008.
The native Italian completed his degree in chemistry at the University of Genoa. His career began on November 1, 1972 with the company Gebrüder NETZSCH in Selb.
On January 1, 1975 he transferred to Sales at NETZSCH-Feinmahltechnik GmbH, which was founded on November 14, 1974. There he became the sales manager for Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Greece, North Africa, the Near East and Central and South America and was granted limited commercial authority on July 1, 1975. On February 1, 1982 he was granted full power of attorney and the position of Sales Director. He was ultimately named Managing Director of NETZSCH-Feinmahltechnik GmbH and the Business Unit Grinding and Dispersing on January 1, 1984.
Under his management the Business Unit Grinding & Dispersing was repositioned: to strengthen the machine program in mixing and dispersing technology came the successful acquisition of the companies Mastermix (1986, Aldridge, England) and Dieter Werner Maschinen und Anlagenbau (1997, Mannheim, Germany). Expansion of the product range to include dry grinding and classification was achieved with the acquisition of the company CONDUX Maschinenbau (1995, Hanau, Germany).
The organization and establishment of numerous subsidiaries such as NETZSCH España S.A. (1990, Spain), NETZSCH Shanghai Machinery and Instruments (2000, China), NETZSCH Tula (2003, Russia), NETZSCH Fine Particle Technology, LLC (2004, USA) and NETZSCH Indústria e Comércio de Equipamentos de Moagem Ltda. Today the Business Unit Grinding & Dispersing is well positioned all over the world and, with a consolidated turnover of 94 million € (2008), it is the second-largest business unit within the NETZSCH Group.
